Seussian Arkestra
Interactive Sculpture
Detroit Noel Night, 2015
Interactive sculptures, each which will play a key role as a musical feature in an aural ensemble. Part imagination, part real melodic and rhythmic genius, the Seussian Arkestra will create an interactive visual and audio playscape drawing in participants to interact with each of the larger than life musical instruments. These proposed edifices are intended to be aesthetically significant and engaging in their own capacity, with the musicality as an added ‘playful surprise’.
From a bassimer providing the lower tones, to an Apsiphone providing the melody of an oversized quarter circle xylophone the visually engaging musical sculptures should engage Noel Night Attendees and encourage musical collaboration. To support interaction and visual dynamism, each sculpture will also be illuminated by color changing LED spot lights, with the change driven by the music itself.
Exhibited at Noel Night 2015, and the Janice charach gallery. Currently in Detroit's North Corktown Neighborhood
