The Sidewalk Ballet

Interactive Sculptures
Dlectricity, 2021

“...Composed of movement and change, and although it is life, not art, we may fancifully call it the art form of the city and liken it to the dance... an intricate ballet in which the individual dancers and ensembles all have distinctive parts which miraculously reinforce each other and compose an orderly whole. The ballet of the good city sidewalk never repeats itself from place to place, and in any once place is always replete with new improvisations.”

~Jane Jacobs

The Death and Life of Great American Cities

Building upon the canon of work established and evolved over the last decade, The Arkestral Procession is both in the familiar wheelhouse of our past successes, and wholly original in scale, scope of equitable interactively, and form.

An interactive visual and aural composition authored by the willing and unknowing alike, The Arkestral Procession presents a novel mechanism for the amplification of the an individual’s passive contribution to the Great Collective Sidewalk Ballet into light and sound.

Everyone may be an instrument of the creative dialogue of the city sidewalk.
